Halvor Knutson was once a warrior and a member of the Viking raids that plagued the coastal towns. He was separated from his landing party and was thought dead. He wandered the wilderness of the English Isles for a few years - hunting, fishing, trapping, and skinning. In this way he lived alone for a long time, a ghost in the trees, not wanting to show himself for fear of being hunted himself.
When he became tired of living alone, he ventured close to a small village where he shadowed a hunter leaving in the morning. Halvor left his weapons hidden, and moved to a position where he would be seen by the other hunter. Showing that he was disarmed, he used his very limited knowledge of the local language to try to communicate his promise of peace. After a short standoff, he was brought into town. There, he waited patiently as the townsfolk decided his fate. Once it became clear that they could use another skilled hunter, he was grudgingly allowed to stay. He has since worked hard to become friends with some of the local village people, trading to maintain the equipment he cannot fashion for himself. He is very fond of trading stories and learning new things about all other cultures and religions outside his own. Though he had embraced some of the cultural differences there, he had just recently heard of the Viking Encampment set up nearby, and could not resist the curiosity of visiting his old brethren. After being welcomed in by the Viking Encampment, hunting alone is no longer a necessity to survive. He now hunts with his Viking friends, weaves wire jewelry, and helps provide for the Viking Encampment. He also travels far on journeys to maintain his relationships with his new English friends. |
