Shortly after his birth in Uppsala, Sweden, Jörn’s parents started a long journey to Njardarheim, leaving the farmlands of Sweden for the fjords of Norway. He developed skills as a warrior and hoped to one day be known as a drengr. Eventually Jörn built his own longship and gathered a crew to set sail across the seas. The ship sailed so fast that the crew said it “flew like a raven,” contributing to the nickname they gave Jörn due to him “flying” into battle.
With his band of Vikingrs, Jörn sailed from Norway to Northumbria until he found himself at the mercy of a deadly storm. The waves crashed with such force that the boat began to break apart and finally capsized. Sadly, the crew perished, but Jörn was able to strap himself to a large piece of the boat and float above the waves as they crashed against him, one after another. Once the storm passed, Jörn floated for days; the sun beating down on him during the day and cold air biting at his skin during the night. Without food or fresh water Jörn passed out from exhaustion, and was eventually washed ashore. While out scouting, Ralaf and Hjorstein found Jörn and brought him back to the encampment. While recovering from his injuries, Jarl Aesa and her bodyguard, Sacha, approached Jörn to find out his intentions. With no ship, no crew, and nothing but his skills and loyalty, Jörn pledged his allegiance and life to Jarl Aesa as a protector, warrior, and provider for the encampment. Under the guidance of Sacha, Jörn has become a skilled bodyguard and even a better fighter with watchful eyes and sharp steel. |
