Born the illegitimate son of an Icelandic Chieftain and an Irish mother, Kjetil was raised in thralldom in his fathers household.
His father did not claim him and so did not give him a name. Soon, the other inhabitants of the farm started calling him Kjetil as he was tasked with carrying the full cooking pots and kettles for the farm's meals. Carrying the heavy pots as a small boy helped Kjetil grow large and strong and soon he was ready to escape his father's farm. During the region's Thing assembly, Kjetil's father was found "mysteriously" dead in his booth with Kjetil nowhere to be found. After being self liberated from thralldom, Kjetil made his own way in the world. He heard tell of the great Jarl Aesa and her encampment and joined her as her thingman in hopes of winning fame, renown and -- most importantly-- a true name for himself. |
